My name is J.A Watkins, I am a tattooer of 21 years. I wish to document the tattoo history of African descendants, stories and accomplishment. I pray that there are no stones unturned and that we illuminate the trail already set forth for generations to come.
We need to know where we are, where we were and where we aren’t. Documenting our tattoo history, one person at a time is so very important. That’s enough of the self promotion events disguised as movements for the culture. That’s enough! The time to document and publish historical content is NOW! Free from the idea of profit, free from social media likes.
Im certain that you have never seen, heard or read tattoo history that has included someone that looks like you, however, someone that looked like you was definitely blazing a trail. I will also assume you had an apprenticeship from someone who had no idea what it is like to be in your shoes as the only brown person in the room. OR like me with no apprenticeship at all. I salute you for keeping on.
I am interested in compiling your info into a global registry with newsletters and "greenbook".
We do not wish to exclude any tattooers of African decent worldwide. All are encouraged to PLEASE, enter your info, and you will be contacted and included in all newsletters and registry. You will need to be a tattooer operating on a professional level. While I understand everyone starts somewhere, I want to provide those that are not operating within these parameters a level to work towards.
I anticipate the snowballing of this effort into an real-time organization, It is needed if we wish to see more brown faces in our arena. Please kindly, enter your info to be a recipient of future newsletters and publications.
